Hell yeah it's time to change that conversation!!! I was talking to my mom the other day about going to grad school in New York and like possibly living with my boyfriend and she flipped out on me telling me that if I wanted to live with a guy that I needed to do it "the right way". She proceeded to lecture me on a woman's place in the home, taking care of the family and having the supplementary income. My blood was boiling because even my own mother's point of view is so against everything I believe and it's crazy because technically she raised me. I kept telling her that this is the 21st century and I really don't mind being the bread winner and I really don't mind having a stay at home DAD. We did not and have not managed to see eye-to-eye and I have had to come to terms with the fact that our generation sees things in a much different light than older generations. With that, I do believe there is hope in changing the conversation. Unfortunately that conversation will not be between my mother and I.
